Bonny Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop
Bonny Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop
One of my weaknesses is buying nice kitchen tools and gadgets. When I saw the Bonny Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop in the kitchen section of my local Fred Meyer store, on sale for $10.80, I picked it up on a whim. We already owned an Stainless Steel ice cream scoop, but it was dated and since my husband eats a lot of ice cream, I thought this Bonny version would be a nice kitchen tool.

5-8 Long Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop Set |
Ice Cream Scoop, Bonny Stainless |
It measures about 8 3/4 inches long, and the handle has a width of 2 1/2 inches. The scoop itself holds about one fourth of a cup. I prefer Stainless Steel ice cream scoops that have the trigger release with the slider inside the bowl, which moves back and forth forcing the ice cream (or other contents) out easily.
The Bonny Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop is not supposed to rust, and it can be washed safely in a dishwasher. It comes with a lifetime warranty.

My Experience
This is a heavy duty looking item, it feels hefty in the hands, and the sides of the handles are smooth and curved, so they don't dig into the skin when I am trying to get hard, frozen ice cream out of its container. The company claims that the handle is ergonomically designed, and it really is comfortable.
There is a very thick spring in between the two handles, and to use the scoop you simply squeeze the two handles together and the ends of the handles will roll along a gear to move the slider inside the Stainless Steel ice cream scoop.

Since the Bonny Stainless Steel Ice Cream Scoop comes with a lifetime warranty I called Bradshaw International, Inc (there is a toll free number on the hang tag), and spoke with a customer support employee. Unfortunately I was not able to speak to the person they told me I needed to speak with. The guarantee reads "If this product fails to conform to this warranty, please return product accompanied by proof of purchase to the address below, and a replacement will be furnished free of charge."

My experience may be a fluke, and I hope it was. This seems to be a well made, very attractive product, but it just didn't hold up for me, (under normal use) as an ice cream scoop.)
