Are plastic washing machine tubs any good?
Plastic tubs are more durable than enamel ones, which can chip and rust. Stainless steel tubs are the best as they are the most durable and can withstand high spin speeds. Plastic tubs don't corrode and seem a lot stiffer and quieter
Plastic tub:
- Lightweight
- Oxidising chances minimised.
- Electrical safety.
Plastic breaks down obviously faster than steel, so therefore in my opinion steel. Also steel is easier to clean than a plastic tub. I chose steel for that reason. Also it will never wear out compared to the plastic one. I hope this helps. With steel you can use Javex to clean. With plastic you have to watch what you clean it with. Both plastic and stainless steel tubs are durable and will likely last as long as the rest of the washing machine. Stainless steel tubs, though, are stronger than plastic tubs and can hold up to higher spin speeds; because higher spin speeds remove more water from clothes and make laundry easier to dry, this is an advantage that can make stainless-tub-equipped machines more energy-efficient overall.

A stainless steel tub doesn't get rough and may in fact get smoother as it wears, so it's considerably less likely to damage clothing.
