Why are pure copper, gold and aluminium often alloyed?

and what are some examples of uses and relevant properties of some of their alloys

because their natural state is hard to work with, i.e. gold is soft
copper is used to conduct electrictity because of its high conductance,
gold fill teeth, because it gives, aluminum, lightness, make cans
